Xuekai Dong graduated and obtained his Bachelor’s degree at Northwestern
Polytechnical University (NPU) in 2017. In September 2017, he began his successive
postgraduate and doctoral program of study at NPU. After 1.5 years of Master study
stage, he became a Ph.D. candidate in March 2019. The planned defence for the Doctor’s
degree is 2025. Currently, he is enrolled in a joint research project as a visiting PhD
student in Computational Fluid Dynamics-Modelling and Simulation Group at the Basque
Center for Applied Mathematics under the supervision of Prof. Marco Ellero, in the
framework of national scholarship awarded by China Scholarship Council, from February
1, 2024 to January 31, 2025.
Since September 2017, Xuekai Dong has been working on computational fluid dynamics
for more than 6 years and published a paper in Physics of Fluids. His focus is on
developing smoothed particle hydrodynamics method to simulate non-Newtonian free
surface flows (including generalized Newtonian fluids and viscoelastic fluids) in 2D and
3D situations.
His research interests include smoothed particle hydrodynamics, no-Newtonian fluid
mechanics, non-isothermal viscoelastic free surface flows, parallel programming, and
machine learning.
